Hip Hop Responds To The Genocide In Darfur
The HHH Foundation For Social Justice and the SaveDarfurNow Compilation which is the first in a series dealing with Civil Rights, Human Trafficking, Social Justice, Inner-City Violence, the AIDS Epidemic, Police Brutality, and all the other issue we need to deal with and talk about. God put it on my heart to start a Compilation series and movement to broaden the dialogue in Christian Rap and by Christian rappers to do more grown mans hip hop and deal with real life issues from a real position and not just safe youth group friendly music thats only going to ministry to the “theologicaly” or “dogmatically” informed but to get us as a movement to start reaching out to people who aren’t being reached with real good news that can help them out their situation through Proverbs and Parables they can relate to in music giving them godly wisdom for life and counsel that will stir their mind and spirit to do more than sit in some pew listen to a pastor and donate a few dollars to the church but not change their community. To really help Christians become Christians. To reach young adults, young marries, and older people who deal with real issues and to engage the church in the aisles of the world as well as disciple them into ways they can get involved in making positive social changes and being catalysts of change in their communities through non-violent actions to bring about social awareness and change.

The Holy Hip Hop Foundation For Social Justice is a community of believers seeking justice for those affected by genocide, human trafficking, social injustice, spiritual emptiness, corrupt leadership, poverty, disease, the AIDS epidemic, illiteracy, lack of education, environmental issues, poverty, inner-city violence, Police brutality and civil rights violations, by bringing awareness and ways to get involved and make non-violent social impact. HHH Foundation For Social Justice: SaveDarfurNow Compilation Volume 1

In 2008 paraDOX started the organization Holy Hip Hop Foundation For Social Justice to help those affected by the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. The first record with many contributions by MCs from the Christian rap scene is "The SaveDarfurNow Compilation : Holy Hip Hop Responds To The Genocide In Darfur" (2008). Right now in the Darfur region of Sudan as many as 450,000 people have been killed in Darfur. Another 2.5 million have been driven from their homes and into danger. The threat of rape, torture, murder and starvation pursue the women, men and children of Darfur wherever they flee. Here are some other countries in Africa that have been affected by Genocide and War in recent years: Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan (Darfur & Southern Region), Kenya, Somalia & Congo. Over a thousand people have signed and committed to be a part of the movement, whether to educate others, raise funds and awareness or to get involved personally themselves.

Join the Holy Hip Hop Responds to the Need in Darfur Movement Now

How much do you know about the Darfur region of Sudan? About the Genocide, the Janjiweed muslims killing other muslims. The government training them with money they get from the Chinese oil companies. The number one exporter of oil fom Sudan. Govenment gun ship helicopters shooting up vilages & the Janjiweed (devils on horseback) come in to finish the job. This is muslim on muslim, black on black crime. Their are 8 other countries in Africa doing the same Somalia is at it again, Kenya, etc. The Europeans raped & pileaged Africa now the Africans are doing it to themselves. Kinda like in the hoods of US but way worse.

Here’s how you can get involved!!

James 2:14-26 says, "14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

As many as 400,000 people have been killed in Darfur. Another 2.5 million have been driven from their homes and into danger. The threat of rape, torture, murder and starvation pursue the women, men and children of Darfur wherever they flee.

This is most definitely a cause worth fighting for.
Isaiah1:15 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood; 16 wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, 17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Please prayerful consider becoming involved. Pray for the people of Darfur or if you can give or call upon your senators and leaders to Divest In Darfur. It’s something that anyone who really cares about social justice the loss of life should get involved with. Its something I believe in. We should, "Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow, to look after orphans and widows in their distress." 400,000 people have been killed in Darfur and another 2.5 million displaced that is a human tragedy. Hip Hop and other artists lets rise up to the times and do something for those who need our help. Lets show love and help those who are in need. Lets not just debate bible issues and enjoy our comfortable life. Lets help and fight for the cause of the oppressed and hurting.

Tre-9 ,CEO of Much Luvv Records and Founder of the All Eyes On Me Achievement Awards, says, “It is a good thing to do, for such an awful disgrace to humanity.”

Isaiah1:17, “Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”

James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

James 2:15-18 says, “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

Psalms, 82:3, “Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy.”

Gods Call To Social Justice

I believe that like Isaiah 9:1-8 when you encounter pain in your life like the year Isaiah’s friend Uziah died. He had to feel that pain and go through that experience to see the Lord high and lifted up. Its only when we become totally effaced of self that we can see the Lord. When we see him, we see that He is holy and the temple gets shook (judgement starts in the house of God) and we see our sins. Isaiah saw that he was a man of unclean lips amongst a people of unclean lips. And this was the prophet of God. The one thing about the bible is its real. Poeple deal with issues murder, incest, war, violence, etc. Once he saw his sin, the angel took the coal and purged his lips burning fire. If you have a wound and seal it by burning it with fire. You seal it and forever leave a permenant mark that you will never forget and probably never go back to. Once you died to self, see the Lord high and lifted up, see your sin and deal with it, then you can hear God, and when you hear God it is my conviction based on scripture and hours in His presence that you can not leave without feeling called to do something for people who are hurting and need help. The more I spend time with God the more I feel called to like Isaiah “who will go for us and whom shall I send” and Isaiah had dealt with his issues and was ready to go. Without that experience we wouldn’t have had one of the 2nd largest books in the bible, in my opinion. I could be wrong but I believe that since this is an early recorded experience it was foundational for him and his ministry. Just like Paul and the Damascus road experience.

Jesus said count the cost and there is a whole list of things that we should do in the New Testament in response to our free gift of salvation to show our love. Jesus said if you love me obey my commands and go and learn what this means I desire obedience not sacrifice. Ya feel me. God has saved us by grace Eph 2:8 but predestined for us to do good works Eph 2:10. People like Eph 2:8 but overlook Eph 2:10. Its good we are not saved by works and don’t get extra brownie points for doing them. But we are all called to do something. Too many misunderstand the function of the church Eph 4:10-13 says the Fivefold gifts to the church are NOT MINISTERS but EQUIPERS to equip the saints for the work of Ministry. The Saints Are MINISTERS. The Catholic Church flipped that upside down and many still act like they need to be prayed for by a “priest” or “pastor” or be touched by a leader and forget we are a “kingdom of priest a royal nation” and we all have free access to the throne. It was Phillip a simple deacon a helper not a bishop or apostle who was translated in the spirit to convert the Etheopian Eunic.
